2025.12.12 - Update from Tamara Jansen, MP
Thank you so much for your encouragement, and advocacy leading up to the first hour of debate on my Private Member’s Bill, C-218, to stop the expansion of MAiD for mental illness. It was an important moment as we continue to make the case for protecting vulnerable Canadians.
If you were not able to watch the debate live, you can view the speeches online - see TAKE ACTION BELOW
We expect the second hour of debate and the first vote on Bill C-218 to take place in late March. This will be a critical moment that determines whether the Bill continues forward in the legislative process. We will need a majority of MPs to vote in favour of the Bill or else it will be defeated.
Between now and then, I would be deeply grateful for your continued support - see TAKE ACTION BELOW.
Your ongoing efforts are essential in showing Parliament that Canadians want to protect those who are suffering and ensure that our laws reflect genuine care for the most vulnerable.
Thank you again for standing with me and for continuing to advocate for this Bill. I will continue to keep you updated.
2025.12.05 - Canada Bill C-218 refers to Conservative MP Tamara Jansen’s bill to amend the Criminal Code to exclude mental disorder as the sole reason for Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID), aiming to stop its planned 2027 expansion.
