Victoria Vacation 2026

Hello!

I am writing most of this month’s “Wayne’s Word” from Victoria. My wife preceded me to Victoria this time and so I arrived at the airport by myself. Whenever I do this, I take a city bus into downtown Victoria, and then back to the
Oak Bay area where we stay. I do this primarily to people watch, to see the locals who don’t drive and can’t afford taxis.

This trip I saw several disabled people who used the bus try to get on the bus, get settled, and then get off. I watched the driver helping them at every point. I changed buses in front of Victoria’s downtown Drug Treatment Centre, which I
always try to visit. I watched a young couple vaping on a drug, on their knees, and then staggering away. I saw a young boy, maybe 14 years old, already high on drugs, stooped and spaced out. There were others. Overseeing them, and
others, was a thirty-ish year old man, watching and trying to help these people as he could.

Seeing the bus driver and the Treatment Centre man at work reminded me of Mother Teresa’s words; “I Pray like it all depends on God, and I work like it all depends on me”. Wisdom indeed. It also reminded me of Tolkien’s writing where
he says, “It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love.” (Words attributed to Gandolf - Lord of the Rings)

We travel to Victoria to see our son and his family of course, but also to rest and relax a bit. Yah, right. We actually end up doing a lot of yard work and just as much thinking while trimming the hedges, etc.. Some of my thoughts turned to
John Lennox and his views on AI (Lennox is a physicist, Christian, apologist and lecturer/speaker.).

I thought about Prime Minister Carney and his moves aimed at his globalist agenda for Canada. Also, I was troubled by a book I had been reading on the airplane, written by Warren Kinsella which described a worldwide anti-Israel and
anti-west propaganda network fueled by hundreds of millions of dollars, much of the money from Iran.

Let me start this part with John Lennox. AI is self-described as “A field of computer science and technology that enables machines to simulate human intelligence, including learning, reasoning, perception and problem solving.” It’s
self-described deficiencies are “a lack of true logic and understanding, susceptibility to hallucinations, inherent bias, and inability to generalize beyond training data.”

John Lennox describes its deficiency as being “artificial”. Real intelligence is rational while AI is largely irrational. AI lacks the ability to determine relevancy and it also lacks consciousness. These are major components of intelligence.

While AI has many benefits, there are dangerous downsides to it. For example, there are those who believe that AI is a gateway or a component of transhumanism. AI is a technological accelerant to the merging of human biology
with machine intelligence capabilities. Elon Musk believes firmly in the pursuit of transhumanism. He advocates for the use of technology to upgrade humanity. This would include the extension of a person in time, for increasing lengths of
time to the point where a human could exist in some form forever by combining brain content with machine technology. (i.e. A brain could operate within a digital apparatus.).

John Lennox would say that this is not possible for the simple reason that technology cannot store “consciousness”, which is a vital part of humanness. What we would get would be humans living forever in technological form, but without
conscience or consciousness. Now that is a scary proposition, but there are those who are working towards this end for those humans who desire it.

Let me make one final observation on AI. While in a coffee shop in Oak Bay, I sat beside a guy who had a cell phone double the size of mine. We conversed a bit and he said he was on the verge of having twenty-some patents issued. These all dealt with AI in the context of what he called a “skeleton”. By this he meant that AI could create skeletons or structures of who each of us are, and will become. He asked for my name and I told him. He entered this into his phone.
In 10 seconds he showed me his phone which contained pages and pages of information, much of it detailed, about me. It was significantly more extensive than Google. I was frankly “blown away”. This was only a small part of what he
and his group were putting in place for everyone. Another aspect was being able to know where anyone was anytime all the time. As an aside, John Lennox has observed that being connected to AI opens the door to AI being able to
administer lethal doses of an agent to individual users to kill them at the will of someone in control of the AI structure.

On to Prime Minister Carney for a bit. We all know he is a globalist, and, like Trudeau, a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF). (Look this up online and you will be surprised at the breadth and the vision of this group). Globalism is an aspect of WEF, it is an ideology of increased interconnectedness, cooperation , and interdependence of countries as opposed to sole or semi-sole national interests. It opens the door to open borders or no borders, broader trade, shared solutions, and so on.

In a now famous speech, Carney spoke about a new world order, and Canada being aligned with Europe. Glenn Beck, an American conservative commentator, has warned that Canada, because of an ongoing centralization of power and focus on ideologies which are destructive, is becoming a “totalitarian, dystopian nightmare.”
Example:

  • MAID – creation of a culture of death.

  • Erosion of democracy – federal ethics breaches, floor crossings, government overreach.

  • Woke priorities such as political correctness, language mandates and restrictions, climate change over economic stability and national infrastructure.

  • Power is being consolidated, dissent is managed, the individual now is to serve the state, not the reverse.

I am going to wrap this up with some comments on the book I was reading on the plane. It is “The Hidden Hand” by Warren Kinsella. I highly recommend the book for everyone. It gives you insights into the origins of many of the anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian narratives we have been and are seeing these days. It also addresses the origin and reasons for anti-West narratives. Frankly, I am not surprised by much these days after 40 years of lawyering, but a lot of what I read
in this book was a surprise to me.

I remember being in Victoria just a day or two after the October 7th massacre of 1,200 Israeli Jews, and seeing a protest across from my favourite coffee shop denouncing Israel and praising Palestinians. How strange, I thought at the time, and how wrong these protesters were. After reading the book, I began to understand what was happening. Here are some points Kinsella makes:

  • 98.6% of videos on this subject are pro-Palestine or anti-Israel.

  • Poll after poll in the West show that the large majority of Gen Z’s are anti Israel and pro-Palestine. This trend continues through to millennials. This is a first in the history of the West.

  • Gen Z’s are remarkably ignorant about the holocaust, and that Jews are 60% non white.

What is driving this? It is the hidden hand which is the bigger war behind the physical war. To summarize, Hamas has a massive, well orchestrated propaganda machine consisting of 1,800 paid professionals, and massive numbers of followers and boosters, who, for years now, but forcefully more recently, send out messaging that is anti-Israel / Jewish and anti-West. They are boosted by troll farms in Russia, China, and Iran.

Protest organizers have been placed in major cities all through the Western world, many of these on university campuses. They are paid thousands of dollars a week to organize protests which spew out anti-Israel / pro-Hamas messaging, by protestors who use signs made for them, with messaging in place and who are paid anywhere from $30-$50.00 / hour.

The protests are not only organized, they are synchronized according to events which have just happened or are about to happen.

Mass media is complicit with the messaging. The messaging often contains numbers on casualties or other information provided by Hamas, not independently verified.

Behind all of this activity, hundreds of millions of dollars, some from private donors, but much from Iran, Russia and China, is poured into the propaganda and protest machine. The money comes through directly, but also sometimes
indirectly through NGOs and charities like Amnesty International, for instance.

With this said, you still should read the book to get the whole story on this. I have only cited a few highlights.

I have given you much that is negative in our world today, in fact it can be depressing. But, I encourage you to not become downcast. For those of you who heard John Gormley at the RCAAN Gala banquet, he reminded us that things have been worse in the past, and that they will get better. Remember the words of  Mother Teresa, and those of Gandolf cited earlier. And for the many of you who are people of faith, you / we know that good ultimately prevails. I also encourage you to continue your work within RCAAN; come out to the meetings to hear our speakers, visit our website, use your social media to spread awareness, put some coin in Murray’s bucket, encourage your friends to join you in RCAAN by becoming a member. Do what you can.

Finally, thank you to every one of you for your faithfulness in doing what you can. There is no higher praise than being known for faithfulness and that you are. Enjoy your summer, now that it is here. We are taking a break now for the
summer, but will reconnect in late summer about The Plan for next year.
